Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.” Henry David Thoreau

Without confidence, mountains are never climbed, goals are never realized, dreams go unfulfilled, and life is lived in a shrouded comfort zone.

Confidence is a skill that must well up from inside you. You must come face to face with confidence, shake it’s hand, and agree to make it your constant companion and friend. As you climb your own personal mountain you will face many situations where your confidence will be needed to pull you through the challenging times. Draw on your knowing that you are on the right path, stand tall, and keep moving forward. Confidence is huge in wellness and will assist with motivation as well.

How do you gain confidence? What kinds of things can you build into your plan that will strengthen/build our confidence?

  • Make a commitment to yourself and write it down. Post it so you can see it daily. Choose something that will be a stretch but not overwhelming. Remember, there are no short cuts to achieving your goals.

  • Take small doable steps on a daily basis. There will be times when it is two steps forward and one step back. Make the commitment to stay the course.

Often when we begin the process of taking action towards our goals and that in and of itself will raise our confidence.

Here are some ideas to help you get clear about your level of confidence and how to build on that:

1. What is it about your “Big Goal” that is scary for you? What could you do to begin the process of moving past your fears? Write down 3 action steps.

2. Preparedness is the enemy of fear. Think about a time in your life when you had a big challenge to face. How did you prepare for it? What strategies worked for you?

As always I am here for you, on your team. I trust these ideas are in some way a help on your lifestyle change journey.
